Notes
Apop is a framework for structured improvisation that deals with the human tendency to perceive patterns in random noise. Throughout the performance, players interact with cellular automata that create complex musical and visual patterns from simple rules. Apop examines how listeners derive musical meaning from patterns, and in larger sense, how we decide what information is relevant to us.
